If you're a homeowner, it's very likely you're looking forward to the cozy feels of decorating for the holidays. Christmas trees, fireplaces, movies and hot cocoa are some of my favorite things about the Christmas season. Working from home a lot, I've learned to make my home as minimal and stress-free as possible and I want the share my tips with you this Christmas!

#1 Switch out any current decor with your Christmas decorations. For me, this can include any pumpkins, signs, bath mats, pillows, or blankets. Switching out your everyday items with festive ones will really add to your aesthetic. I switch out my shower curtain, bath mats, blankets and bedding, pillow covers, salt and pepper shakers, mugs and more. By swapping these items out for the season, it doesn't add anymore clutter to your living space. 

#2 Layering decorations is an easy way to make your tables and other surface areas festive. Consider a table runner, garland with mini lights intertwined, candles spaced out with tree figurines and pinecones. Adding faux presents or books under your christmas tree is another good way to use open space without cluttering your home.

#3 Finally, minimizing the wide array of colors in your decor and sticking with a theme will give your home a much more uniform look and take away any tackiness that can sometimes come with overdoing decorations. Your home doesn't have to be boring in any sense, but grouping the colors correctly can make a big difference! This one is definitely a personal preference, but I love sticking with earth tones. For instance, my tree has brown, cream, and white ornaments with some gold and bronze mixed in. I also spaced out fillers of cranberries for a pop of red. The garland on my mantle also consists of pinecones and the same cranberry fillers. Another way to coordinate your colors is to designate certain colors to certain rooms. 

There are so many fun ways to decorate your home this holiday season! There's no one right way to decorate your home, but these are just a couple of tips from me to you if you are like me and get overwhelmed by all of the bright, fun colors. I hope everyone enjoys this holiday season!
